There is only one name that is important to mention regarding the most famous street in the world, and that is Jim Henson. He is the creator of all the characters in Sesame Street, the series that has made an impact on the whole world and has become one of the most popular children television series ever. Sesame Street is the longest running series broadcast on TV in the history of the United States. We will not mention the entire list of awards that the series has received; it is enough to say that Sesame Street has won 109 Emmys and 11 Grammy awards.
Ernie, Bart, Big Bird (the yellow one), Elmo, Kermit, Cookie Monster, Prairie Dawn, Zoe and many others are lovable creatures that make learning exciting for kids. How is this possible? For the answer, we need to mention Jim Henson, who has managed to merge education with fun and games. More than a thousand surveys conducted worldwide have proved that the cognitive development of children has been improved by watching Sesame Street, and therefore those children who start watching Sesame Street at an early age are ready to go to school earlier, they are better in maths and have a better-developed vocabulary.
I directed the Croatian version of the series, which includes 78 episodes out of 4,160 that have been made so far. I had the honour to assume the role of Prairie Dawn and to become a part of an excellent team of actors, who have all put their maximum effort into the series. For me, this experience is going to be something I will be talking about for a long, long time. There was lots of fun and laughter, and I would like to thank everyone for that, but also for their patience and tolerance. I hope we will soon gather again to face new challenges; but there will always only be one Sesame Street!
