Imagine that you’re an alien from outer space. You’ve left behind your boring, conformist dimension known as Confomra and traveled across time, space and other dimensions to arrive at Planet Earth, and then land in a little out-of-the-way seaside town called DeSpray Bay. More specifically, Tomi Tonić’s lighthouse hideaway.

That’s right! Aliens have crashed into the top of the lighthouse tower and made themselves at home. Unfortunately, the earth boy living there was none-too-keen on this house invasion. When Tomi woke to be greeted by a big, slobbering Žvak, he did what any kid would do when faced with being devoured by a pink, fuzzy, lovable alien: he ran and fell off the top of his lighthouse!

It looked like this was going to be a very short TV series. And then, Dinko to the rescue! The little green fella raced down the side of the lighthouse (little green fellas can do that, you know) and caught Tomi before he became a Tonić pancake. Thus, a friendship was born - and we’re not talking about the one between Šmensi and himself. A special bond formed between human and alien; a sentimental and emotional attachment that remains solid, even if one can sometimes drive the other crazy.

Once things settled down (i.e. Tomi realized that no one wanted to eat him yet), Šmensi took one look at Tomi’s rusty, broken-down television and bare wooden bench and did a little bit of redecorating: plush chairs, plasma-screen TV, hover couch and all the comforts Šmensi craves. Šmensi believes the lighthouse is perfect for an alien who expects nothing but the best. Žvak feels totally safe in the lighthouse. Živac has an entire lighthouse to play in and Pufko has a giant backyard to do whatever it is Pufko does.

And Dinko? Dinko has friends but does he truly have a best friend? That’s where Tomi comes in. Determined to have not just another friend, but a best friend, Dinko wants Tomi to be that special one. And odds are, if the aliens don’t accidentally disintegrate the lighthouse first. Tomi and Dinko are going to be best friends for life… or at least until the aliens blow up the planet.

12-year-old Tomi Tonić is the heart and soul of "Pet Alien." If it weren't for him, Dinko wouldn't have a best friend! Tomi likes to live his life just under the radar - at home, at school, out in public and around the neighborhood. No problems, no hassles, no troubles. He's a decent student with a nice, easy life. If you didn't know any better, you'd swear he wasn't even there. And that's okay with Tomi. He's perfectly happy with it. In fact, his life couldn't have been better. Tommy had his lighthouse. And awesome video games. And junk food. But that was in the days B.D.: Before Dinko.

Dinko is the biggest troublemaker of the gang. Though he always tries to help Tomi, he always mucks things up, often because he misunderstands Tomi's words to the point of insanity. (Toilet)

Šmensi is the more smart alien, is much elegant and rather self-centered at times. He often Accompanies Tommy and the aliens on their wacky adventures.

A dog-looking alien who jumps like a hare and whose tongue supposedly is smarter than himself.

Žvak is a big alien with a big appetite (and not just for food, e.g. eating shoes). He likes to burp and fart and also possesses a living tooth. He is very strong, but also very afraid. He appears to be extremely dumb most of the time, but he is capable of intelligent thoughts if he strains his brain hard enough.

An alien that looks like a parrot with a lot of energy. It's difficult to understand what he's saying, although the last word uttered in his sentences often is understandable.

Perica is a direct descendant of DeSpray Bay's founders, as you can tell from his name, and as such he values old English traditions like teatime. Oddly, many characters mistake him for being Norwegian. Granville is hopelessly in love with Melba and has numerous times, to no avail, attempted to win her heart. He hates Tomi and blames him for everything bad that happens. He only has one friend; the statue Admiral Puff.
Marta is a spoiled brat who is the arch-rival of Tomi. She enjoys forcing him to do tedious or tiresome tasks, thanks to her loud and shrill voice and nasty attitude. She is also an exceptionally clever opponent in staring competitions. Despite her last name, she is very impolite. Like most humans, she doesn't know that the aliens are aliens. She just calls them Tomi's "things".

Gabbi is in love with Tomi, but unfortunately he doesn't feel the same way. In several episodes it is revealed that she can smell when Tomi is in trouble.

Stipe competes in any kind of sports available and usually wins. His hobby is to annoy Tomi.
Kapetan Spužva is an old sailor who is a little crazy. He is afraid of water and crustaceans and he runs the local taffy shop which Tomi and the aliens visit at least daily.

Najviše mi se sviđa špica i svemirac Šmensi. Kad će to biti na televiziji?
